As much as Old Tom is intriguing, I strongly recommend trying oude jenever (like the readily available Boomsma Genever Oude Gin) in your next Martinez or Negroni. There's much more depth, richness and enthusiam in the flavor.

Jeff,

Ace Beverage in NW DC. http://www.acebevdc.com/

Joe Riley there is an expert especially on getting good stuff - that's where I also got the Hayman's Old Tom gin. I suggest Saturday mornings if you want to talk to him.

(He also knows his wine inside and out but I'm not as much a wine guy - I like it, I just don't know much about it and devout most of my remaining brain cells to beer and liquor.)

Hey SeanMike,

What friendly neighborhood liquor store are you using. I highly doubt VABC is getting something as awesome as Fee Brothers and Central doesn't carry bitters.

What boozy Valhalla am I missing out on?

I might go with an 1/8th of an ounce, first. That's about ... uh ... 3 dashes, maybe?

The orange flower water didn't overwhelm but it was very strong in the taste.

Ooh, I absolutely must try a negroni with rhubarb bitters! I like the mention of measuring the cream last; I've thought that every time I use it. 1/4oz of orange flower water is -insane- I think I used all but 8 drops for three 750ml bottles of orgeat. How about 3 drops?
