The goal with this community will be to write up our experiences and experiments with drinks, especially with our current obsession with classic cocktails, and also with cigars.
I haven’t had a cigar since Sunday when I had a La Gloria Cubana Serie R #5.Â
and I were drinking Manhattans at the time – mine made with Elmer T. Lee bourbon, his with six year old Sazerac rye, plus some Martini & Rossi sweet vermouth and bourbon & grand marnier soaked cherries with a splash of orange bitters (in his) and Angastora bitters (in mine).
We killed our keg of Sam Adams Oktoberfest in the kegerator on Sunday, so we replaced it with the same last night. Previously we’ve run Smithwicks (three times), Guinness, Sam Adams Boston Ale, and Shiner Bock in the keg. The Shiner was a disappointment; the Smithwicks and Guinness were good, but the nitrogen is just too expensive. We’re looking to try something new after the Sam Adams though.
I polished off my pint bottle of Bombay Sapphire and the remnants of my bottle of Plymouth gin on Monday night. I wasn’t overly impressed with the Plymouth – I doubt I’ll buy that again. I still have an untouched bottle of Tanqueray 10 right now, and about 2/3rds of a bottle of Tanqueray Rangpur.
Well, enough of this. I bought a bottle of St. Germain elderflower liquor last night – might have to give that a shot tonight.
